What does the published scientific research say about Glomus coronatum?
In a semi-arid Mediterranean revegetation study (PMID 33863100), native G. coronatum outperformed exotic Glomus intraradices in co-inoculation trials on Anthyllis cytisoides, with biomass accumulation, N and P uptake, N₂-fixation, and root length all cited as improved in the peer-reviewed literature. Separately, Funneliformis coronatum spores were recovered from saline Algerian soils (PMID 26184906), where AMF colonization of Tamarix articulata rhizosphere persisted at salinity levels up to approximately 5 dS/m.
Peer-reviewed research also reports that pre-inoculation with G. coronatum reduced Meloidogyne incognita root-knot nematode pressure on tomato while stimulating plant growth (PMID 12938032). The fungus appears in multi-species AMF consortia trials on Vigna radiata alongside antifungal-metabolite-producing PGPR strains (PMID 19458967), and was included in a phytoremediation study on chromite-asbestos mine waste soil using vetiver grass, where it was one of four AMF species evaluated (PMID 40513445).
